FAQ’s

CHECK-IN  &  REGISTRATION – WHEN & WHERE ?

We are trying to get as many participants to register at The Foy Center on Friday night from 7pm until 8pm, to ease the registration traffic on Saturday morning, when their will be limited sign-on from 7.30am until 8.30am. Here you will sign-in, collect your goodie bag, including, race number, timing chip etc.
 

HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO TAKE PART ?

You have to be 18 years of age or over
 

WHEN DO I GET MY NUMBER ?

You will be provided with a timing transponder/chip, to be strapped to your ankle.  You mustcollect your number and chip before the race briefing. They will NOT be posted out to you.
We will be distributing the chips on Friday April 20th and Saturday April 21st

WHAT ARE THE CUT OFF TIMES ?

There is no cut off time. Anyone making very slow progress will be given an option of a lift or short cut to the finish.

CAN I GIVE MY NUMBER TO ANOTHER PARTICIPANT?

Under no circumstances can you transfer your number to another runner, this is for health and safety reasons and is strictly forbidden.

ARE TRANSFERS ALLOWED ?

You can do this before 19th April by emailing your request.  After this date it is not possible.

WHAT DOES MY ENTRY FEE INCLUDE?

The 37 euro entry fee covers
• Bus transfer to the start line at the Lumpers.
• Race entry
• Overall/Category Prizes.
• Refreshments after the race & Spot prizes.

WHAT ARE THE ENTRY LIMITS?

There is a limit of 200 participants.

CAN I DRIVE TO THE START?

You must use the race buses to get to the start. Once all buses have arrived at the start, the race will start shortly after, at 10am, sharp.

WHERE DO BUSES LEAVE FROM?

Buses leave from outside The Foy Center.

IS THERE A BAGGAGE DROP/OFF AREA AVAILABLE ?

Yes, you will be issued with a numbered bag at registration. You’re plastic goodie bag will serve a double purpose and be used to put any warm clothing you may need before and after the race. Please come prepared for all weather conditions.
The baggage collection area will be clearly marked at the finish area. All runners are advised not to leave valuables in the bag as you leave your bag in the baggage area at your own risk.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME ?

Please don’t forget your timing chip and race number.
The race will start 20 minutes after the buses arrive at the Lumpers. Enough time for a quick warm up.


ARE THERE MILE MARKERS?

Yes. All along the way.

WHERE ARE THE WATER AND FOOD STATIONS?

There are two water stations on the route, at the 5 and 9 mile markers.

WHAT DO I GET AT THE FINISH?

A grand reception, New Event Buff (at reg.)  refreshments and post food will be provided after the race.

WHERE CAN I GET RESULTS?

Results will be published on the Cooley Legends website after the race, and also on a timing slip given to you at the finish and viewed on the big screen at the finish line.

ARE THERE AGE CATEGORY PRIZES?

Yes.
There are overall prizes for Male and Female winners.
There are also category prizes for:-
Open Male and Female,
Vet 40+,  Classic 50+

ARE IPODS AND MP3 PLAYERS BANNED ?

Yes, all personal music devices are banned for safety reasons.

  1. Well Fergal, its a half marathon. Off road run is harder than flat road run, I would suggest maybe Dundalk 10k or half marathon on 5th May 2010. Then again the mountains are great providing you have undertaken a pre-event training program, you’ll enjoy it a lot better.
