The 2nd annual Cooley Legends (off/road) Half Marathon held this Saturday 23rd April, 2011 in Carlingford, Co. Louth. Conditions were perfect, after the recent dry spell and slight southerly wind to cool the participants on their way. It was 2nd position was the defending local Setanta triathlete, Bryan McCrystal, with Ugis Karasevs taking first position with a new course record of 1:24:40, beating the old record by exactly one minute.
In the ladies race once again, there was no catching the local Setanta triathlete Jolene Mallon with N.Hogan in second position.

Guys,
I would like to thank you for a well organised 1/2 Marathon, it was a test of my metal and I had to dig deep a few times, it’s all in the head anyway. I’m looking forward to next years, I now know what to expect, this is of course if I stop walking like the Tin Man before then.

PS. The Dundalk 1/2 Marathon is going to be a bit dull in comparison!

Thanks so so much for everyone involved in the half marathon. It was so well organised, such a friendly atmosphere…the whole day was brill (apart from the 2 hrs 59 mins and of course those 51 seconds!!!!)… was a great overall and what a way to celebrate my birthday!!
